Technical Information
Databases
Express is designed on and
for SQL Server and SQL Server Express. If you have fewer
than ten users then you can probably use SQL Server Express,
which is free . Companies with ten or more users should use
the full version of SQL Server.
Operating Systems
XP Pro or Vista Business on
the workstations and Windows Server 2000/2003 on the server.
Windows Terminal Server and Citrix are both supported. The Microsoft .Net Framework is
required on all workstations and servers.
Hardware
Requirements
Express is not especially
demanding on the workstations, but it will work the server
if you are processing large amounts of data. The amount of
RAM you will require is similar to what would be needed to
run most other Microsoft applications.
Data Connectivity
Express does not use ODBC.
Express uses only OLE and data access is secured with SQL
Server Authentication.
